Adventures in Mazatlan

The advantage of leaving the Baja earlier than planned was plenty of time to explore Mazatlan, and as a bonus take a side trip to Durango (separate post). I’ll let the pictures do the talking, but it should be clear that a great time was had.

Our first night we anchored out and had a chance to enjoy Isla Pierda and a hike up goat hill (yes there are free range goats).

Do we love food, yes. Does Mazatlan have great food, yes. Did we have happy bellies, oh yes!

Needing to work off some of the calories, we took to hiking up to El Faro (lighthouse). For those looking to do this hike, you can take the “green” Sabado Centro bus to the end of the line and the hike starts only a few hundred meters away. As a bonus you can board the bus here too and since it is the first stop you are guaranteed a seat!

Last year I saw the Nutcracker so this year we opted for the Gala Navideña: Un Sueño en Navidad (Christmas play) at teatro Ángela Peralta. We were a bit late for good seats but still enjoyed a fun play and memorable evening. Side note, Hector’s Bistro was a perfect pre-theater dinner, even without reservations they squeezed us in and we had an awesome meal!
