2025 Condition Inspection – N241VP Van’s RV-10

All in all it was a pretty uneventful Condition Inspection. It helps immensely to have a large hanger, that is well lit, and all the tools. Plus this year I became a bit more organized, I put together Flambeau Outdoors 5003 Fishing Tackle Boxes to keep all of the various supplies in one spot.

Typically I perform my Condition Inspection at a friends hanger in Minnesota, so in order to remember everything I need to bring I took pictures:

List of repair items completed this year:

  • Replaced the FM-150 Inlet Gasket and safety wired the four bolts that hold the airbox plate to the FM-150
  • WD-1014C Torque tubes both had a small area of minor surface corrosion, lightly sanded, cleaned with acetone, and repainted with SEM self-etching primer
  • During flap actuator lubrication, the flaps would not extend. The switch wires screws were retightened and the sensor connector was found partially dislodged (reconnected) and following repairs the system operated normally
  • Air filter was found to have shrunk and was replaced
  • Slight build of of lead in the bottom NGK BR7ES spark plugs (74.3 hours), replaced with NGK BR8EIX Iridium Electrode (lead fouling only begin after switching to hotter spark plugs – returned to P-Mag recommended temperature range plugs)
  • Alternate Air cable was extremely difficult to pull, found the issue was that the cable has an orientation and was incorrectly inserted – labeled cable knob to identify orientation.
  • The epoxy on the wire entering the Red cube fuel flow sensor was beginning to crack, coated cable with RTV to provide strain relief
  • Touched up paint
