A few hours in Loreto before skipping up to Isla Coronado

It was a slight beat to Loreto with wind from the west but it wasn’t bad and a few hours later we dropped anchor next to a fellow Seawind 1160 Cayu who clearly were not having the best day ever. Their screecher was in shreds and they couldn’t get their main sail all the way down. We offered help but they had it under control. With that we went into super cleaning mode getting the inside and outside of the boat all clean for Jean. She had a bit of drama at customs about two RO water filters but in the end they just waved her through. I picked her up at the Marina Hotel and was surprised to bump into the crew from MV Aberdeen Queen and SV Cayu having lunch. It was there I learned that their screecher wasn’t wrapped tight and then the furler came untied. Ouch, that was an expensive day on the water. They said it was old so not a terrible loss but still something they needed to replace very quickly as they are planning to head over to the mainland in six weeks. Jean’s taxi arrived and after a bit more chatting it was time to go.

Quickly we upped anchor and motorsailed over to Isla Coronado. It was an easy trip with 20-25 knot winds behind us and pulling into the anchorage we were bummed to see three boats had the prime spots and we would be somewhat exposed. Not terrible but not great either. A dinghy to shore to get a hike just before sunset was a nice cap to the day, well except for the wet return to Strikhedonia. Warm showers made that better and we settled in for a good evening with the boat pitching and the wind continuing to whistle through the rigging.
