Sharing Los Gatos with a group of sea kayakers

We pulled into the anchorage to find a group of campers on the beach where I like to anchor. No worries we moved down the beach a bit to give them some space. It wasn’t long before we jumped in the dinghy to snorkel around the southern point where I had spearfished with Victor a few years ago. The spot did not disappoint with plenty of large fish to watch. The current was ripping towards the point so we didn’t go around the corner, instead opting to head inland, less fish but safer. I did spot a sea snake – read very poisonous – that Vicki and I watched as it explored the crevasses in the rock looking for food while a fish harassed it but trying to eat growth on its body. Itch scratched, we headed back to the dinghy to a rest.

Over our time here, I never missed my morning hike or evening hike. I love to explore the red rocks and surrounding hills but the highlight was one morning at a very low tide that allowed for walking around the reef and viewing the hills from the water. Oh and just before we left I hiked the road, hoping to go from one side of the beach to the other but with not enough time I ended up turning around and bushwhacking through a wash that I knew would drain into the ocean. That was interesting but I really wanted see where the road led. Next time…
