We pulled up anchor and move around the east side of Isla Carmen. This can be a decent fishing area so I put out both hand lines. I headed to my berth to work on a new solar arch improvement coming back an hour or so later to see we had a fish on. Oh baby, please don’t be a skip jack. I quickly noticed it was a dorado (Mahi Mahi) abnd brought it up on the swim step. Vicki handed me the knife and I handed her the line. Sadly, there was some slack and with one last shake our fish dislodged the hook and was gone. I was beyond heartbroken. The only saving grace, if there was one, is that the fishes friend had been swimming behind the boat which did make all of us sad. Blerg.
We pulled into Punta Colorado to another private anchorage. Jean and I were tired but, ever the energizer bunny, Vicki hopped in the kayak for a long paddle along the shore’s numerous areas of rocky outcroppings. Being tired, it was a mellow evening and without much fanfare I headed to bed early to get rested up for a busy and fun day tomorrow.
