More boat projects. See a trend here? I am actively questioning my life choices given all the work, stress, and money I’ve poured into Strikhedonia since buying her back.
Around 10:00 AM, we headed toward Bahía LA for a few provisions and most importantly hamburgers at Guillermo’s – Jack’s favorite and a required stop for him. Arriving to find them closed, disaster was narrowly averted, when I saw they opened at 1:00pm. We walked down to the tienda, bought a few things we needed and a few things we didn’t. A guy was selling produce by the road, so we grabbed a mixed bag from him, too. It was a crapshoot as to what was fresh and what looked slightly suspicious, but we tossed a few bucks his way regardless.
Settling in for lunch, the kitchen was still getting organized, so we started with margaritas. At 205 pesos, my hopes were high. They were heavy on the tequila, quite bitter, and overloaded with lime, still, they went down just fine. As the burgers arrived, Tom from SV Cosmic Winds asked to join us. We had a great chat, he and a buddy boat had been hanging around the area for a month. With no watermaker on board, he’s been lugging 20-liter jugs from shore to his boat, a brutal workout with the water plant a few blocks inland.
Food in our bellies, we said our goodbyes and headed back to Strikhedonia. The plan was to return to Don Juan because La Mona tends to get a nasty 10-knot west wind around 4:00 AM that makes for a rolly, miserable hour or two. We had leftoverrs, watched a bit of TV, and called it a night.
