A few hours of exploring

In the fall I tried to take the dirt road from one side of the beach to the other but ran out of time and ended up following a wash back to the beach. With plenty of time and water, today I was committed to completing the loop. I made quick work of it and was surprised to see how close I was last time. Oh well.

After reaching the turn off to the beach I decided to continue on the road towards Timbabiche. Along the way I climbed a few hills for the view and ultimately decided to attempt a short cut across the desert to the hill in the middle of the bay where I was anchored. This led to multiple attempts to get through the thick brush before abandoning that plan and just taking the road.

Rather than climb the hill in the middle of the bay, I took the valley between it and the next connected hill and then scramble, climbed up the second hill. It was a bit risky at one point as it was near vertical and a steep drop off if I slipped but safe enough. Following the ridgeline I climbed down the southern end before a slide down the sand dunes to the beach. There were some new to me, cool red rock formations as I worked my way along the shoreline over boulders. Then it was back up a hill for one final view of the bay.

It was a great hike and good way to wear myself out. The afternoon was spent trying to get my bowsprit reinstalled. After a number of hours I came to realize that the repair done back home was wrong and I would have to rebuilt from scratch one of the brackets. So frustrating and more critically disappointing that I would not have the use of my screecher sail for the rest of the season. Blerg.
