I have had some terrible bashes up to Bahia Bonanza before due to the wind tunnel that is the Cerralvo channel, add to it forecast 20 knot gusts from the north and my decision was made – a 4am departure. I had a great push of current helping my passage and getting past La Ventana the jib was unfurled giving a small boost of speed. It was perfectly mellow and eight hours later I was dropping the hook in the crystal clear water along the beach in Bahia Bonanza. This bay has excellent holding and I have waited out north winds a number of times while visiting here so I had not reservations of hanging out here for a number of days.
Another nap was in order, followed by working on my ongoing headache that is the port holding tank. I also did some fine-tuning on my galley faucet RO filter and an attempt to fix a flat dinghy wheel (hint it failed). It was a hot one with temperatures in the 90s, so I waited until the sun was low in the sky before paddling into shore for a beach walk. Cleaning up were the crew from the mega yacht Huntress, I was surprised that the guests had a beach party all afternoon but it must have been fun since they hung out a long time in the heat – or maybe the drinks were flowing and they didn’t feel the heat. I enjoyed getting some exercise and stretched my legs for a few miles – this is a long beach. Back aboard it was time for dinner, some programming, and off to bed at the early time of 8:30pm. What can I say, I was still catching up on sleep.
