All Seawind 1160 sailboats end up having issues with the black pain that surrounds the windows cracking and becoming dull over the years. My friends Carl and Roxy (SV Sky Pond) had 3M Deep Matte Black Wrap Film Series 2080 applied when they hauled their boat at Boat Works in Brisbane and were extremely impressed with the appearance. Allan and Alison (SV Fly Aweigh) had the upper windows area repainted in Baja Naval with okay but not perfect results. I decided for Strikhedonia to go the wrap method.
The black painted areas are very unusual shapes and I was very concerned about finding a company in San Diego that would do an excellent job. I talked with several businesses but I failed to find anyone who I felt comfortable with until I attended the San Diego boat show and talked to Meme at Pacific Yacht Protection. Pacific Yacht Protection installs a product from Yacht Armor that claims a very long lasting, self healing, and downright robust product (time will tell…). I’m currently scheduled to have the work completed in September but in an effort to help other Seawind owners I’m posting the pictures and drawings that I used to get a quote from Meme.
