Diving the mother’fing Chimneys

The point of today was to dive The Chimneys, we woke to 15 knots of wind and rolly seas, that would have been fine but it was the cloud cover that had us worried. We bided our time and around 10am patches of blue sky were visible, we ended up waiting until 12:30 to get the best sun angle and then made our way out to the reef and to the location of two pinnacle structures.

From the former resort that I referenced yesterday, “Dropping down these pinnacles with their explosion of colour and life is a sensory overload. Covered in vast colours of soft coral, hard coral, micro critters, uncountable tropical fish and laced with huge sea fans, this site puts Fiji as the soft coral capital of the world. Excellent site for photography.” Yep, that about sums it up. Thankfully Carl had better luck with his camera today so there is some photographic evidence (the camera still fails to come even close to capturing the experience) which does a much better job than I can in explaining it beyond the word, INCREDIBLE. Yesterday’s dives were amazing but this was still another level above. Wow!
