Not going to be building a composite aircraft

There I said it – I am not fan of epoxy, flox, micro and sanding. My day was kicked off with 150 minutes of sanding and cleaning up. But the cabin top was to be installed! Whew. Next up was finishing up the door prep. Those door pins, filing the correct amount off the ends of the rods to get…

Sanding finish line in sight

Big progress on the cabin top today. I figured out a way to apply micro to the vertical surfaces which greatly reduced the waiting time. After all the filling of the sides and back there is poor alignment on the front corners. Got a layer of flox down to start filling…

Well how about more carbon fiber work…

I decided I needed to make some adjustments to the mounting brackets for the transponder which morphed into giving all of the support brackets a good paint job. That along with a little more work on the baggage door took up a good chunk of the morning. After lunch I ran two cables I had forgotten for the overhead lights…

Carbon Fiber day, so excited

Finished up cutting the holes for the defrost fans (2 of 2) which went quick and then it was on to the day’s major effort – cutting/sanding carbon fiber. First I took on the vents on the panel which was a warm up to the overhead console. The console had four vents which weren’t too bad other than a lot…
